Redeeming The Time Because The Days Are Evil

Rom 13:11  And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Rom 13:12  The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

Rom 13:13  Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

Rom 13:14  But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

It is often said by many, ‘stop wasting MY time,’ or, ‘well if I’m wasting MY time, it’s MY time to waste!’ There is viewpoint of this world that our “time” is precious, and as such, we like to ‘make the most’ of how we ‘spend’ our time. We feel as though we failed when we have wasted years of our lives doing something, and then we have to make another life changing decision to NOW spend our time doing something else with our lives. The Apostle Paul desires that we too know “the time” that we are living in today. We too ought to know that the “time” that God has ‘dispensed’ unto us in this dispensation of Grace, is precious unto our Father. Our Father desires that we understand and appreciate that it is “high time” that we fully understand that we are in Satan’s “night,” and that we ought to ‘adorn’ ourselves with the “Armour of Light” in this “time” of the darkness of this “night” of Satan.

Eph 5:8  For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

Eph 5:9  (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

Eph 5:10  Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

Eph 5:11  And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them

Moreover, Paul says, “and that knowing the time, that NOW it is high time to awake out of sleep: for NOW, our salvation is NEARER than when we believed.” We are given to understand that the time that we live in ought to be viewed the way our Father sees these times. And when Paul says in 2Corinthians 4:18: “while we LOOK not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal,” those “things” are clearly “seen” by us, but it’s all based upon our understanding of these things. It is what we have learned, and what we NOW “know” about the things which we are to “look” for. God desires that we view the time and the “days” that we live in as “evil,” and that if we who are in Christ “walk” according to this evil world, we are ‘sleepwalking,’ and functionally “dead” in the sight of our Father. God desires that the Saints know that their time ought to belong to the Lord and not “live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.”

1Pe 4:2  That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

Eph 5:12  For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

Eph 5:13  But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

Eph 5:14  Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

Eph 5:15  See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

Eph 5:16  Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Eph 5:17  Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Therefore, “knowing the time,” our walk ought to be walking of the Light of the knowledge of His will and His Word. And the question becomes; ‘how are we ‘spending’ the Lord’s time?’ And whether we know it or not, we are being exhorted according to how we walk in these times, and as the verses above clearly state, we could spend our lives walking as “fools” in our Father’s sight. And because we are “in Christ,” and are “bought with a price,” how we ‘spend’ our time is essential to our Father. But it is also essential to Satan to achieve his darkness of the time when we continue to walk as the children of darkness. And notice what Ephesians 5:8 says, “for ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.” And being NOW “children of Light,” Paul says that we used to be the children of darkness, or in other words; we were ‘fathered’ of Satan’s darkness of this world. And when we continue to “walk” in these “times,” we must have the understanding that Paul is exhorting unto us when he says, “be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.”

Col 1:9  For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

Col 1:10  That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

Col 1:11  Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

Col 1:12  Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

Col 1:13  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Finally, this world is in darkness, and we are living in a “far spent” status of Satan’s policy of evil referred to by Paul as the “night,” so now that we can see how God views these “times,” the question becomes; ‘what are you going to DO with YOUR time?’ Do we “awake out of sleep” from our slumber of ignorance to living in a world that is truly against our Father’s Light, and His “Day,” and “walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing.” Or do we “continue” to “walk” after the “deeds” of the “old man,” and the ways of the “children of disobedience.” God desires that we “put off” the dark night of this world, and expose these ‘evil “times” as His “lights” in the midst of this evil world. we are taught to ‘redeem’ the time, and not just ‘know the time,’ but value our Father’s “time” that we are given to live unto Him as His “Sons and Daughters,” and ‘use this time’ to be educated by His Word apart from this evil time that we live in. And our Father desires to educate us and as we see in 2nd Corinthians chapter 6, He will only be able to educate us with His Word when we “Put off,” and “come out from among” this evil world of darkness.

2Co 6:17  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

2Co 6:18  And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Col 3:6  For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience

Col 3:7  In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

Col 3:8  But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Col 3:9  Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

Col 3:10  And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
