Rom 15:17 I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God.
Rom 15:18 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,
Some time ago, someone wrote a book entitled, “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus,” and even though I have not read the book, the summary of it is that Men and Women have psychological differences as their thinking goes. But the actual fact is that whether it’s the thinking of the Woman or the Man, they both are educated in the “words which man’s wisdom teacheth.” And because they have a different ‘viewpoint’ on this world’s “things,” the ‘foundation’ is the same, and that is the things that pertain to this world, and this is because they are “conformed to this world.” But notice Paul’s understanding as he ‘compared Spiritual things with Spiritual. Paul said that he would not “dare” to speak of any “thing” that does not pertain to God. Paul understood that the things that pertain to God were “godly,” and Spiritual, and will “make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed.
1Co 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Furthermore, Paul knew, and taught the Saints about the Spiritual “foundation” that no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. And the Spiritual “Foundation” of the Word Himself ‘teaches’ us HOW to think, we are told to “renew” our minds to be “transformed” unto the “mind of Christ.” And having “the mind of Christ” means having His thinking concerning all things. That means ‘Word of God things thinking’ only, and notice in the above verses, the Holy Ghost’s Ministry which we have “received” (our Bibles), “teacheth” us when we desire to open our Bibles and read and understand with Spiritual discernment, this is how we are to “compare Spiritual things with Spiritual.” Our thinking ought to be after the things which we are taught in His Word, and not after the things which man’s wisdom teaches us. And with that being said; this world operates upon Satan’s “power of the air,” the ‘spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.”
1Co 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
1Co 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
1Co 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
1Co 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
Therefore, it is this wisdom of men that dwells within the “spirit’ of mankind today, he has a ‘way’ of thinking after the things he/she sees, and hears, and what they allow to ‘enter in their hearts’ to fall in love with concerning the things of this world; we today call those things ‘hobbies,’ or ‘things we do in our spare time.’ But the Man and Women will eventually ‘hit it off’ when you both either agree on the same table of likes, or dislikes, or compromise to ‘put up’ with what the other party ‘loves,’ even though they do not share the same ‘likes,’ they will ‘deal with it,’ because maybe either they will ‘learn’ to like those things, or maybe they can ‘change’ this person’s ways. God’s Word of truth does not ‘compromise’ with the Man, he sees God’s Word as “foolishness unto him.” And this is because God’s Truth goes “contrary” against the ‘truth’ of Mankind. The ‘truth’ of Mankind ALWAYS centers around his “flesh,” and whatever IT “lusteth” after. The wisdom of Man ONLY discerns the things which Man’s wisdom “teacheth,” and he does not want to ‘break his own heart’ from the things which he has become “addicted” unto.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
1Co 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
1Co 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
However, we who are in Christ are ‘beseeched’ to “think” according to God’s Word of truth, this is what it means to have a “Spiritual mind,” and to have “the mind of Christ.” And we are to think ‘like’ the Lord thinks about the things of this world, we ought to think “after” the knowledge of our Father’s Word, this is the thinking “which is according to godliness.” We are taught to be “transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Mankind ‘speaks,’ ‘walks,’ and ‘lives’ after the wisdom of Men, but notice what the Apostle Paul says in the verses below; the Spiritual wisdom of the truth will not be discerned by the “natural man.” It will be as the Apostle Paul would be speaking ‘another language,’ or was from ‘another planet.’ They walked “as men,” they thought as Men, and they lived as the Men of this world, they were what Paul calls Mankind; they were “conformed to this world.”
1Co 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
1Co 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
1Co 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
Finally, the “contrary” thinking between Men and Women are contrary in nature, but they eventually learn how to ‘get on the same page’ most of the time. But the “carnal mind” of Man is “enmity against God,” his thinking is “enmity” against the truth, and the will, and “life” of God. He cannot ‘learn to’ please God, because the wisdom of Men only has the wisdom to ‘please’ himself, and other Men/Women of this world. The Word of God becomes foolishness with Man because it condemns our flesh, and it ‘brings to nothing’ our wisdom, it exposes our flesh as worthless to God, and shows that God desires to use our “inward Man” for His purposes. Them that love God with a selfless heart will see “the things which pertain to God,” and as Paul, begin to only speak those Spiritual things which pertain to God, not our flesh, or about our wisdom. And this is how Paul could glory in his infirmities, and say, “I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation.” These are the things which pertain to God, and not Paul’s flesh, and we that are “Spiritual,” and not “in our flesh,” ought to only speak those things that pertain to God, because it should be our desire to please God, not our Flesh.
Rom 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Rom 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
