Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Rom 15:30 Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;
In today’s vocabulary, the word “beseech” is rarely used, it is often replaced by other words to ‘ask,’ or to ‘urge,’ or ‘beg’ someone to do, or think accordingly to our wishes or demands. But in God’s Word of truth, the word “beseech” is used often to exhort the Saints to either “walk,” “think,” “love,” and “be” in the Likeness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And Paul also beseeches the Saints to warn them concerning the danger to their godly edifying. And as we see in the verses below, division in the “one Body” of Christ has always been Satan’s first ‘form of attack’ against the Church, and Paul knows that if the Saints are divided, how could they learn selfless love, how could they think with “one mind,” and how could they “walk” in godliness as “one” with the Word, and with our Father, and according to the Life of His Son.
Rom 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
Rom 16:18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
1Co 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
Furthermore, we are “beseeched” to “be,” “walk,” “think,” and to “love” like our Father, and the Lord. This is what godliness is all about, and this is what our Father has Paul exhorting, and warning, and teaching the Saints, but the ‘way’ Paul teaches this important doctrine is significant to understand and appreciate. Notice the Father does not have Paul ‘command’ the Saints? Because our Father’s selfless love ‘beseeches’ His “sons and daughters” who desire to walk in godliness. And the Saints who are not walking, thinking, and doing things according to His will are not going to take heed unto the “instruction unto righteousness” given. But a “faithful” Saint takes heed unto the “beseeching” we are given for our learning, the faithful Saint also loves “reproof and correction” from his Father’s Word to guide him unto being ‘like Father-like son.’ And that there are ‘godly sanctification consequences’ when the Saint is not taking heed unto the ‘teaching’ being given by our Father’s Word.
1Co 4:16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
1Co 4:17 For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.
2Co 6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
Eph 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
Moreover, notice the ‘way’ we are being ‘asked’ to ‘submit’ unto the righteous teaching of our Father’s Word, our taking heed unto His Word is ‘well pleasing’ unto Him. And a mature faithful son does not need to be ‘commanded,’ but the “babe in Christ” unfortunately does. And when we give our adult children ‘warning,’ or ‘instruction’ about the affairs of this life, we don’t ‘demand’ as we did when they were toddlers. We don’t say, ‘get down from there,’ ‘don’t run in the street,’ our ‘teaching style’ changes towards them as they get older, and this is because we know they ought to be able to ‘digest’ our wisdom and instruction, ‘more perfectly,’ and we as parents of adult children know that they will not take heed to the same teaching style of a ‘babe.’ And our Father “beseeches’ us as His “sons and daughters” to receive His instruction in righteousness, and live in godliness, but unfortunately, not all of those in Christ will desire to take heed unto our Father’s beseeching unto us, some will continue to ‘walk,’ ‘think,’ ‘love,’ and ‘be’ as this world, and will continue to allow Satan to speak reproachfully. But taking heed unto His Word allows the Saints to operate unto godliness with His selfless love and understanding of His will. Are you taking heed unto His “beseeching” instruction unto righteousness?”
1Th 4:1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
1Th 4:9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
1Th 4:10 And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;
Phm 1:9 Yet for love’s sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
