Eph.6:10] Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
[11] Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
In the military, soldiers adorn their ‘combat gear’ on a daily basis, and even though they are not actively engaged in battle, they are prepared for the battle if necessary. The same is true for the police, they adorn their uniform with all full protection and are ‘armed’ to ‘protect and serve.’ Our Father has provided for us the “armour” necessary to be “strong in the Lord and in the power of His Might.” And our armor is designed to not be ‘put off,’ but we are to adorn this armor at all times knowing that it is “the power of His Might.” And it is our understanding of the “whole armour of God” that is vital to His Power working effectually within the heart of the believer. But we must first understand and appreciate the ‘why’ we are adoring the Armour.
2Cor.2:11] Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
Eph.6:12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
[13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Moreover, it is our understanding of the “wiles of the devil” that we are not to be ignorant of. And knowing Satan’s devices, does not mean that we have “fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness,” but that we are Spiritually “able” to discern the evil, and Satan’s devices. And knowing and exposing the “works of darkness” is the first step in putting on the whole armour of God. Because from that point on, the wiles of the devil will come up in our lives on a daily basis, and its not as if they haven’t been in our lives on a daily basis before; but now we are able to see the evil of the works of darkness that we walked unto. But our adorning the whole armour of God gives us the Power to stand, and “withstand” against all that Satan will ‘throw our way.’
Eph.6:14] Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
[15] And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
[16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
[17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Furthermore, those who are Spiritually able” to discern the works of darkness, wrestle “against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” They see the ‘powers that be’ of the darkness this world, and they wrestle against the darkness of this world, and Satan’s devices daily. And just as Lot was “vexed” by “seeing and hearing” “day to day” the “filthy conversation of the wicked,” we too face the effects of the “power of the air,” and Satan’s devices. But we are given by our Father the “Word of God,” as the Armour of Truth. And notice that the Armour is not just for the ‘protection’ of the Son against the wiles of the devil, but also for the ‘offensive’ in our battle as we wrestle against Satan’s wiles, and our operating upon the Power of God and His Armour we “preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” This is also part day “having done all, to stand” doctrine of the Armour, the Word of God is the “weapons of our warfare” against Satan and he knows this is the case, but unfortunately, many Saints do not understand and appreciate the essential Power given unto them by His word.
2Pet.2:7] And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
[8] (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)
2Tim.2:26] And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Finally, putting on the whole armour of God is done by those who are “strong in the Lord and in the power of His Might.” The same could be said for those in the ‘armed forces,’ they must understand how to ‘put on’ their gear properly, and not forget any vital aspect of their armor, because failure to do so could lead to fatal consequences for them. The same is true if they di not properly understand the enemy’s capabilities, and their weaponry against them. And as we “wrestle” in battle against Satan’s wiles, we must understand and fully appreciate the mechanics of the Armour itself. And the heart of the faithful son desires to ‘enlist’ in His Father’s battle as a “good soldier of Jesus Christ.” And he cannot “put off” the Armour our Father has provided for us, because it would be dangerous to the sanctification, and the edifying as a “perfect man.” He must fully understand and appreciate that because his Father is is a battle, he too should desire to ‘go to war’ with Him. And as we desire to be the son who “warreth” with our Father against Satan’s wiles, we must ‘know’ Satan’s devices, because if not, we too can be “taken captive by him at his will.”
2Tim.2:1] Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
[2] And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
[3] Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
[4] No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
Titus 2:10] Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
