How Can The Church Be “Of The Same Mind?”

Rom.15:5] Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:

[6] That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

With any organization or business, being on the ‘same page’ is vital to the overall success of any business or organization as a whole. And operating in ‘one accord,’ and with one common goal ‘in mind’ is a must to maintain working together unto success. We in the Body of Christ are “beseeched” by our Father to be “of one mind,” and that we “speak the same thing,” and that there be “no divisions among” us. In this study, we will look at some of the reasons why the members of the Body of Christ are not of one mind, and are divided.

The ‘First Things-First’ The Saint Ought To understand After Justified:

Understand that from the moment we became justified unto eternal life, that we have a Spiritual relationship with God, and this type of relationship will forever concern our inward man only.

The ‘first things first’ thing that we should have done as those who just became justified unto eternal life, is understand that God who made this provision for us through His Son is Holy, and Spiritual. And He has now saved our inward man from the debt and penalty of sin against him, and now delivered our inward man from the wrath of God because we were spiritually “in Adam,” but now we are Spiritually in Christ.

Phil.3:15] Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

[16] Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

Now with that being said, we must also understand that the ‘way’ God has delt with us through His Grace is Spiritual, and has a inward man benefit by His Grace and Mercy through His Son, but it is our inward man ONLY that gets the ‘salvation’ from something we could not save ourselves from. And that God has left His Word for the justified saint, so that the saint can now be educated by God as Father unto us, and that we may know our Father’s Word, His Heart, His Will, and His emotions as well. We must ‘unlearn’ EVERYTHING that this world has previously taught us about God, and how to serve Him, and His Will for the believer. We must understand that our Father’s Will ought to be our will as well, and that it is our inward man only that God will save, educate, show forth His Love, and show forth the “excellency of the power” of His Word within us.

1st Cor.1:10] Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

1st Cor.11:18] For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it

And that everything that we are going to educated in, is dedicated for our inward man ONLY, and that His Word, His Will, and His Life, and His Love ought to be concerning our inward man only. But even though all saints will agree that this is the case, and that it is our inward man only that gets the salvation from the debt and penalty of sin against us, and that our outward man ought to be “crucified” with our now being “in Christ,” most saints find themselves walking according to this world’s word, life, love, will, and this world’s ways. And today’s Church ‘service’ should not resemble the traditions, the life, and the way that this world thinks that they ‘serve Him.’ And even though we will say our ‘service’ is not ‘like’ other Churches, we follow their ‘likeness’ when it comes to what time and day they serve Him, and the way we ‘fellowship” has been taught to us by this world, and the ‘appearance’ of Church itself follows the same blueprint for what this world says the worshiping of God is supposed to look like. And all the man-made rudiments, and traditions, are learned from man’s experience, what he is shown, and what he hears from man; NOT from God’s Word. All we have to do is ask ourselves this question; ‘did my Father give me a specific day to worship and serve Him?’ Man begins to live his sanctified life after the Church system, and not after God. The unsaved cannot serve Him the same way the justified in Christ does.

  1. If His Word has not taught these things, then it is of this world!
  2. We must discern the difference between man’s wisdom and the things which pertain to God.

2Cor.12:18] I desired Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did Titus make a gain of you? Walked we not in the same spirit? Walked we not in the same steps?

[19] Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? We speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying.

And when it comes to today’s Church, the saints find themselves serving our Father the way that this world has taught us, and the only thing that all mankind is of ‘the same mind’ about is that they will say; ‘we will never all be of the same mind,’ and actually charge someone who says that we all could be of the same mind, as being in error, but this is because we are taught by this world that ‘divisions’ among the church world is no cause for alarm, and even among those who are brethren, and fellowship in the same place, they feel that there will be ‘some differences,’ but just as long as they agree upon the major foundation of the doctrine that separates them from others, then they can fellowship of one accord. In scripture, one of the worst thing that could happen in the lives of the saints throughout time is that there are divisions among the Church. It was horrific when the 12 tribes were divided, the Lord did not want His Apostles divided, Paul reproved the Corinthians over and over about not being divided, but we think ‘what’s the big deal’ if there are divisions among us.

2Co 10:3  For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

2Co 10:4  (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

2Co 10:5  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Rom 8:6  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Rom 8:7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Rom 8:8  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

The “Carnal mind is enmity against God:” our thinking has to be according to His ‘Living Word,’ not according to our carnal minds, and when we read His Word, we must understand that His Word concerns our inward man only, and we cannot place a “carnal” application upon the verses, and assume that what is being said will work in our physical circumstances, or can be applied to benefit our outward man.

And the first thing that those who understand the Pauline truth ought to have done the moment they saw this truth, was also see that this world’s Church preaches a false doctrine which concerns the flesh, and the physical lives of the hearers. And whether they teach a constant work for salvation, or a physical healing, or physical blessings, or that God will change their circumstances in their lives, they preach a “carnal” blessing from God centered around their flesh, and how it can benefit from the Love Of God, and the Power of God, but this is worshipping God in the flesh. But this is what we ought to have known about this ungodly world, and that we should ‘unlearn’ everything we have been taught by this world about the will of God, and the Power of God, and about the love of God.

Phil.3:17] Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

[18] (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

[19] Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

[20] For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
