1st Cor.2:10] But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
[11] For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
[12] Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
The Apostle Paul teaches the Saints in 1st Corinthians that there are ‘two competing wisdoms’ that the believer will be ‘subject’ unto. And that is, the wisdom and instruction from God, and the wisdom and instruction from man himself. And even though this wisdom is from Satan’s “wiles,” and “of” The “power of the air,” Man operates upon this knowledge, and he begins to teach it unto others. This is what the Corinthians, and many others fell victim to, not only in Paul’s day, but also now in this dispensation of Gentile Grace. Paul shows the distinction between the spirit which is of God, and the spirit which is of Man. And the spirit of man concerns his life, his will, and his pursuit of happiness. But the Spirit which is of God concerns the life of God, and the will of God, and the love of God, and the Word of God, and this “Spirit” is what we ought to be “led by,” and what we ought to “walk in,” and what we ought to be “filled with.”
Rom.1:21] Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
[22] Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Furthermore, the spirit of man is “after” his vain imagination, and his foolish heart. And he ‘professes’ himself to be wise, but this “wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.” And specifically, the spirit of man is his ‘law,’ and his ‘good,’ and what is the ‘evil’ in his sight. And he places nothing above his wisdom and lifestyle, and above his happiness and own heart. This “spirit” is in the man, and the Spirit of God is contrary to what the spirit of man desires. Man desires to “know” the things that caters to his flesh and its affections and lusts. And he counts any other thinking that goes against the lusts of his flesh as “foolish.” But the unfortunate simple fact is that the man will rarely speak to anyone who has the Spiritual mind of Christ today. He will come across many who have the spirit of man, but they just have ‘different view points’ about the affairs of this life, and this will always be concerning his foolish heart with its affections and lusts.
James 3:13] Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
[14] But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
[15] This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
Moreover, in first Corinthians, and James chapter, we see the wisdom of men goes after the attributes of Satan. Satan desired to be “like the most High,” but not in His Likeness and after His Image. But he desires to be worshipped and served ‘as a god.’ Man too is proud, and loves the praise of other men, and seeks after the ‘fame and fortune’ of this world. But he also loves to teach his wisdom unto others, just like Satan who seeks to have the men of this world walking according to the works of darkness and their foolish heart. And the spirit of man can only discern what his ‘five senses’ can perceive. And our Father desires that we walk not according to the wisdom of men, and the fashion of this world. But this also goes after ‘how’ we serve our Father as well. There are many who are in Christ, yet have a ‘what have you done for me lately’ type of worship. This type of wisdom is in the ‘form of godliness,’ is sought after by many people who have “divers lusts,” and is “enticing words of man’s wisdom” designed to deceive the hearts of men.
1st Cor.2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
[5] That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
1st Cor.2:13] Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
[14] But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Finally, those who are in Christ cannot perceive that they themselves are being deceived based upon the their understanding of the ‘doctrine’ of this world. And just as Satan desires to be ‘like’ the Most High God, this world has a doctrine that teaches that a man can be ‘godly,’ and that the power of God works for the things that his flesh desires today (health, wealth, great lifestyle, and relationships). These doctrines have many names today: ‘prosperity gospel,’ ‘healing ministry,’ ‘prayer power hour,’ and many other doctrines which have an appearance of godliness but always concerns your flesh. And whether it is your flesh being healed, or being ‘blessed’ financially, or have a ‘blessed day’ every day, the spirit of man operates upon a ‘false truth,’ he has “changed the truth of God into a lie,” and he worships and serves his own affections and lusts, and walks as a ‘wise fool,’ and not according to the doctrine which is according to godliness.
1st Cor.3:18] Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
[19] For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
[20] And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
