First, let’s recap the chronology of events in the Tribulation that we have covered so far here on Supply of Grace.

Midway Point of the Tribulation:
The Everlasting Gospel + Justification During the Tribulation
Let’s set the stage for the Mark of the Beast. At the Abomination of Desolation, the saints run into the mountains while being chased by the antichrist’s armies. God intervenes. He saves them. Then, three angels in quick succession circle the globe with three crucial messages for all mankind. The first angel gives them the everlasting gospel. Just come to God by faith in accepting who Christ is as God. Change your course. Accept Christ as God. Worship Him, and you’ll have everlasting life, which is at its core, the same message given to the Jews under the Gospel of the Kingdom. I think those two gospels are synonymous. After that, another angel circles the globe declaring Babylon to be fallen, which we’re going to cover here. Then a third angel circles the globe with a warning to all mankind about the Mark of the Beast. We’re going to do verse-by-verse exegesis of that third angel’s message. Then we’re going to cover step-by-step what happens chronologically when the Mark of the Beast is implemented.
Plus, we’re going to answer all the big questions: What is the point of the Mark of the Beast? How do people get the mark? What happens if a believer tries to take the Mark of the Beast?
The 2nd Angel – Rev. 14:8
Rev 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
After the first angel circles the globe giving the gospel to everyone on the planet, God then through this second angel addresses with the people of the earth the issue of this new global antichrist kingdom. The angel says, Babylon is fallen, is fallen…
When the angel says “Babylon,” is that, like, a spiritual name for the capital city of the antichrist’s empire or will the city literally be called Babylon? I’d suggest that the city will literally be called Babylon. There are a number of times when the Holy Spirit says great city in the book of Revelation. Every time He says that, he’s talking about a literal city and its literal name, like Jerusalem or New Jerusalem. But when He is giving a city a spiritual name, He’s careful to point that out. You remember when the Two Witnesses died and we read in Rev. 11:8, “And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt...” When the Holy Spirit is giving a city its spiritual name, like He did there with Jerusalem, the Spirit was careful to explain that He was giving that city a spiritual identifier. He’s talking about Jerusalem, but it’s spiritually called Sodom and Egypt.
Thus, when this second angel is talking about Babylon to all the Gentiles around the globe, if he’s only saying what is the antichrist’s capital city’s spiritual identifier, how would anyone know what city the angel’s talking about? I’d suggest everyone will know exactly what the angel is talking about because the capital city will actually be called Babylon. Before technology dies at the midway point, I’m sure the media will do its best to promote and build up this great city Babylon. Everyone will know about Babylon.
How much would unbelieving Gentiles know about the OT being in part a tale of two cities, of Jerusalem vs. Babylon? Or how much would they know about what it means spiritually for God to call a city Babylon? Very little. The only solution to this question is that the capital city will literally be called Babylon. The entire world knows it. And when the angel references Babylon, they will all know he’s talking about the antichrist’s capital city, which is actually called Babylon.
I also think the Holy Spirit will convict every person who hears him. They will know without any doubt that Babylon in the eyes of God is pure evil.
So this angel flies around the earth and says Babylon is fallen, is fallen… This image of the angel and what he says is so memorable and so haunting. These people won’t forget this moment and what God told them about the near future of this new empire, because if the city Babylon is fallen, then the whole empire is fallen.
Fascinating to me that, as the antichrist’s global empire is just now standing on its feet, we have an angel circling the globe already declaring that Babylon is fallen.
The thing is, Babylon’s hasn’t fallen yet. That fall will happen in the near future.
Yet, everyone on the planet will understand what God means when His angel tells them this. The fall of Babylon has already been predetermined by God. It’s a done deal. Babylon will fall and in the mind of God it’s already fallen because He had already predetermined that it will fall. So the people of the world should also view Babylon as already fallen, just like God, because God determined that this will happen, which means that anything the antichrist or the false prophet will want from them should be ignored, rejected, and refused, because God has already told them that this kingdom will be over before it really starts.
You know, the people of the world will have already been through a lot, and now they’ll have to live under this new global kingdom led by this scary antichrist person. I’m sure there’s already supernatural communication about a global mark system and how it will be expected of everyone to take the mark of the beast and worship the antichrist. It’s almost as if God is anticipating what everyone’s thinking after they hear the everlasting gospel. They’re probably thinking, “You know, I’d love to accept the gospel, but I gotta somehow live in this empire now, and they’re telling me I have to worship the antichrist if I want to survive.”
But God is telling them, “No, that empire will not last. That empire of Satan is already fallen before it’s even begun because I willed it to be fallen.” And now these people know that they need to think beyond living in the here and now under the antichrist’s system. They need to start thinking about life after Babylon has fallen, life inside God’s kingdom, life that is eternal in the presence of God. This antichrist kingdom is nothing in the eyes of God. It won’t last. They need to be thinking about life with God in HIS kingdom after Satan’s kingdom has fallen.
Not only that, God is calling the world to perform civil disobedience against the antichrist kingdom. Why? Because His judgment has already been passed on Babylon. Babylon is not an issue because in God’s mind Babylon is already fallen. There’s no point in listening to them or submitting to the Mark of the Beast, because God will crush that kingdom before you know it.
So the angel’s message here is extremely good news and yet another call to faith. This kingdom you’re seeing now? That kingdom will not last. Do you believe what God told you? Then you need to act on that. Instead of worshipping the antichrist, you need to be worshipping God. Instead of thinking about living inside his kingdom under his rules, you need to be thinking about living inside GOD’S kingdom when His Son returns to the Earth.
The message here is: you can’t afford to be making spiritual compromises just so you can survive in the immediate future. You need to worship God right now so you can have eternal life. You need to stop thinking about the nasty now and now and start thinking about eternity.
Of course, this angel explains why Babylon will soon be fallen. He says, because she made ALL nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. Again, notice how the antichrist’s empire is global, and there will be judgment upon all the individuals who make up those nations for taking part in her fornication, which is fornication in the sense of idolatry, because they’re worshipping the devil. In the OT, idolatry is often equated to spiritual adultery, spiritual fornication. Babylon is presented in Revelation as a woman, as a whore, as the mother of all harlots, not because of sexual sins, although that will exist, but she’s a harlot because of all her idolatry. And this harlot is now offering everyone wine, which is the Mark of the Beast. Her wine is alluring, enticing, because her wine appeals to the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. She’s trying to lure and intoxicate people so they will take part in her fornication. And if you drink her wine, if you take that Mark of the Beast, you will be engaging in her fornication, which is idolatry, because you’ll be worshipping the devil. And the result is that your soul will be doomed. You will be subject to the wrath of God Himself.
The 3rd Angel – Rev. 14:9-13
Rev 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, Rev 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: Rev 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. Rev 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
We read in Rev 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand… First, we’ve made the point often that the Mark of the Beast is not merely an economic system. That’s secondary. The Mark of the Beast is primarily a religious commitment to worshipping two things: the beast and his image. If you’re worshipping his image, which is a physical idol of the antichrist, then you’re worshipping the antichrist. We dived into the Image of the Beast in the False Prophet article. We also explored the Image of the Beast in our Antichrist article, too.
If you’re living during the Tribulation, and your nation just yielded its sovereignty to the antichrist, the first thing you’re going to learn is that the False Prophet wants you to do two things: 1) He wants you to take the Mark of the Beast on your right hand or your forehead, which means that you’ve committed yourself to worshipping the beast as God, and 2) He wants you to make an image of the Beast. A little statue. A picture. A painting. An idol of some kind.
Then the False Prophet will make that idol come to life.
It is basically a demonically powered version of Alexa in your home. Through that idol, now miraculously brought to life through the demonic powers of the False Prophet, you now have the eyes, ears, and mouth of Satan in your home. You have the entire demonic realm observing everything you do. Everything you say. And that idol will speak to you if you’re not living the way he wants. And the False Prophet wants you to show that you’re worshipping the antichrist by worshipping the idol of the antichrist in your home. And I’m sure Satan will be very particular about all the things he wants you to do in front of that idol.
But if you have a change of heart and you stop worshipping the beast, you will be killed on the spot by that idol. Rev 13:15 was very explicit about this. The False Prophet will have the power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. So by accepting the Mark of the Beast, you’ve not only agreed to worship the devil through the antichrist, but you’ve also agreed to have a demonically empowered idol of him in your home, that will kill you if you fail to comply.
Too often, believers today are focused on the economic system while overlooking the fact that the requirement to receive the mark is your commitment to worship Satan while having a kind of living, demonically powered Alexa in your home.
The word, “mark,” is mentioned eight times in Revelation (Rev. 13:16,17; 14:9,11; 15:2; 16:2; 19:20; 20:4). According to Paul Sadler in his Revelation commentaries, “mark” carries with it the idea of an engraving or etching, a permanent stamp or a badge of servitude. He wrote, “The mark is something that is easily seen and shown to all on the skin. The mark won’t be done unknowingly or accidentally. It will be clear to all.”
Here, the angel speaks of receivingthe mark in his forehead, or in his hand, but we know from Rev. 13:16 that it’s the right hand or the forehead.
Why the right hand?
Because it’s a Satanic perversion of the way God uses the right hand in Scripture. “Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool” (Mat. 22:44). To be at the right hand of someone, like how Lord is seated at the right hand of the Father, is seen as a place of honor and status. So Satan offering his mark on your right hand is a form of enticement by implying that if you take his mark, you will have status and honor in his kingdom. And, of course, if you don’t have a right hand, you can still have a mark on your forehead, and that is meant to symbolize devotion to some deity. Aaron, the chief priest, had a golden plate tied to his forehead that said Holiness to the Lord (Exo. 28:36-38). In Ezek. 16, the Lord was talking to His faithless bride, Israel, and He says in Eze 16:12 And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head. That symbolic jewel on His bride’s forehead, or the golden plate on Aaron’s forehead, was all meant to signify their devotion to Him.
Look atRev 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
Here the wine of the harlot is contrasted with the wine of the wrath of God. Drinking her wine of idolatry will have you drinking His wine of wrath. The wine of His wrath, we’re told, is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation. The cup is His righteous anger, and His wine is without mixture. It’s not diluted in any way, and His wine will be poured out on you if you drink of her wine, which is to take the mark.
Then we’re told, “and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb.” Make no mistake. The meaning here is plain. This verse is a continuation of the previous verse. If you take the mark of the beast, your soul is eternally doomed. You will receive God’s wrath. You will be sent to the Lake of Fire. Your soul will be tormented forever with fire and brimstone. That’s what these verses plainly say. There’s nothing ambiguous about these verses. Plus, when souls are sent to the Lake of Fire, they won’t be out of sight out of mind with God. Their torment will forever take place in the presence of the Lord and His angels. He and His angels will forever be observing their torment.
Rev 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
Again, John says this torment is forever. They will never have any rest. Lying heretics out there who say that “everyone is saved, and no one goes to the Lake of Fire” are just plain Bible deniers. And shame on them! All the words in the world aren’t going to make these verses not mean what they plainly say. Their torment in the Lake of Fire is forever. The smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever and they will never have any rest day or night.
Again, God clarifies who’s going to the Lake of Fire in this message to the world. It’s anyone who worships the beast and his image, byreceiving the mark of his name. Once you take that mark, there is no turning back. There is no second chance. There is no reprieve. There is no salvation after that. You will receive God’s wrath and you will be tormented forever in the Lake of Fire in God’s presence for all of eternity.
But the angel offers some consolation. Look at Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. This is a similar consolation to what we read at the end of the first half of Rev. 13 about the first beast, the antichrist. After we learn about how awful he is, we were told in Rev. 13:10, Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. Just like John, this angel doesn’t tell the world to be patient and be faithful. He merely presents the patience and the faith of the saints. Here it is. Look at it. Think about it. Picture it in your minds – the patience of the saints. The entire world is called to think about what it means to be a saint, and that is to exhibit patience.
Patience doing what?
They’re to do two things: keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
First, they’re to keep the commandments of God. In the first message by the first angel, they’re to come to God by faith in accepting all that Christ is as God. They’re to follow His commandments in that message by worshipping Christ as God. Now the world is given to understand the evil nature of this Babylonian empire of the antichrist. They’re to reject the mark of the beast, and here it is to be a saint. What we have here is put off and put on. Reject this and embrace that. Reject taking the Mark and embrace what it means to be a saint in God’s eyes. Faith. Patience. Obey His commandments. Keep the commandments He gave you through these angels and get to know His Word. Obey God regardless of the cost to you personally.
Additionally, the world is called to keep the faith of Jesus. They are to keep close to their hearts the fidelity of Christ, keep in their minds and hearts the fact that Christ will fulfill everything He said He’s going to do. They are to keep the faith of Christ alive in their hearts all their days on this Earth because it’s a timeless principle that Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it (1 Thess. 5:24). Bullinger, in his Revelation commentary, would write that, “The consolation given affirms that it will be better to die than to yield: better to have the blessing connected with death, even the martyr’s death, than to live and come under God’s curse and suffer the vengeance of eternal fire.”
Rev 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
Now this voice is different than the angel’s voice. This is not part of the angel’s message. This is a different voice speaking directly to John, which I suspect may be the voice of the Father because He speaks of the Lord and quotes the Holy Spirit. This voice tells him how blessed are those who die a martyr’s death during the Tribulation.
Notice how He says Blessed are the dead which die IN THE LORD from henceforth. If you come to God with faith in Christ, you are IN THE LORD and you will NEVER be out of the Lord. And if you die as a saint, as a martyr, you are blessed. Why? Because you have eternal life! A lot of people are going to die in the last half of the Tribulation, but the only ones who are blessed in death are those who die IN THE LORD.
Also notice He says from henceforth, from this moment forward going into the last half of the Tribulation. If you are a believer who takes a stand for the Lord by accepting His gospel no matter the cost, you are blessed because your works and your sacrifices, even the sacrifice of your life will be richly rewarded by the Lord.
Who are the believers who die during the last 3 ½ years? Now, the believing remnant, the Little Flock, are in the mountains protected by God and being fed manna. So I suspect this is referring to Gentile believers, the very ones we had read about in the last half of Rev. 7. A lot of them will die but they are blessed because they’re saved. Now there will also be plenty of people who refuse to embrace the everlasting gospel and refuse to accept the Mark of the Beast and they survive to the end. And I think all those people will make up the goat nations that the Lord judges at His Second Coming. And all of that effort and good luck by which they managed to survive the whole Tribulation is all for nought, because the Lord will send them all to Hell to await their final judgment at the Great White Throne. Why? Because they had no faith.
A Chronological Breakdown
Let’s consider what happens step-by-step. The Abomination of Desolation happens. Then the believing remnant run for the mountains outside of Judea. The antichrist’s armies chase them. God protects them. The Earth swallows them up. The believers remain in the place God had prepared for them in the mountains, and they’re fed manna from Heaven.
Then what happens?
I suspect the antichrist heads to Babylon, his capital city to oversee the transition of taking over all the other nations. He has to delegate all kinds of new powers to his ten kings. He has to stomp the nations that resist giving over their sovereignty to him. While all this is happening, God sends the three angels with the three messages to all the people of the Earth: the everlasting gospel, the declaration of the fall of Babylon, and a warning about the eternal consequence of taking the Mark of the Beat.
Then what follows is the implementation of the Mark of the Beast.
Why does Satan, the antichrist, and the false prophet want to have the Mark of the Beast? From Satan’s perspective, he knows his kingdom won’t last. He knows his time is short before he’s sent to Hell. We were told that in Rev. 12:12. I think Satan wants to bring as many people down with him as he can, to hurt God by eternally dooming as many souls as he possibly can. There’s nothing he can do about believers. They’re already saved. They have eternal security. So all he can do is just kill them so they won’t spread the gospel of the kingdom.
What’s at stake are all the undecided people out in the world, all those millions of people who have not yet put their faith in Christ. If Satan can through fear and intimidation bully them into taking the mark, he’ll hurt God by dooming their souls and taking them down with him.
I suspect Satan also wants the Earth rid of Jews and believers so he can have the entire planet worshipping him even if it is only for a short time. He can have that small victory. He may be lying to himself that he can still somehow defeat God, but deep down, he knows he has precious little time left, and so this act of forcing his mark upon the world is basically a suicide run on his part. “If I’m going down, I’m taking down as many people with me.”
From God’s perspective, He’s allowing this to happen, because time is running out not just for Satan but for everyone. The mark forces people to make a choice of faith.
You have to make your choice right now. Are you going to place your faith in Satan or in God? Because the end of the world is almost here. Time has almost run out. Your eternal destiny hangs in the balance. You have to make your choice right now because after these 13 judgments from God, after seeing the testimonies of the 144,000 and Moses and Elijah and seeing them go up into Heaven, after the testimonies of everyone who got saved both Jews and Gentiles, after hearing the clear messages from God’s three angels, not one person on the planet is without any excuse whatsoever to reject God or shrug off His offer of salvation. They will burn for all eternity knowing full well they consciously rejected God.
So now the third angel has delivered his message to all the people on the planet. It’s game on. The False Prophet is now actively telling people to get the mark.
How long do the people of the world have to make a decision?
I’d suggest six months at the most. You might remember the Lord said in His letter to Philadelphia in Rev 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. I’d suggest that the hour of temptation that will come upon the whole world IS the Mark of the Beast. The hour of temptation is not a literal hour but it’s an expression meant to impress upon the readers that it will be a short period of time. Consider Rev 17:12 talking about the antichrist kingdom. “And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.” So the ten kings will be given power when the antichrist empire goes global, but that power will only last for one hour with the beast. One hour in this verse is also used to simply illustrate the shortness of their reign with the antichrist. Consider also Rev 18:17. “For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off.” The last verse we read was about the shortness of their reign with the antichrist, but this verse is all about the swiftness of their downfall.
The kingdom of the antichrist doesn’t last long.
The kingdom will become formed with great power and be implemented at the midway point, but as soon as God starts pouring out the final seven judgments, that kingdom will be absolutely decimated. So John uses the expression one hour to simply convey shortness of time. In a short course of time, the kingdom will rise. The duration of that kingdom will only be a short course of time, and in that short period of time, they will implement the Mark of the Beast. Then the fall of the kingdom will likewise take place in short order.
So I think the one hour in these two verses is connected to the hour of temptation. I think the hour of temptation in the letter to Philadelphia is that short period of time in which the antichrist kingdom will be in power and it’s when they implement the Mark of the Beast. That hour of temptation is the Mark of the Beast when the antichrist kingdom is in power. And I can only speculate that this short period of time is the time between the implementation of the mark and the beginning of the final seven judgments of God. Maybe just a few months.
How does the Mark work exactly?
How do people literally get the mark? We’re not told. We can only speculate. One thing I am sure of is that there won’t be centers in major cities where people will have to go to get the mark. Logistically, it’ll be impossible in such a short time to set that up.
I had, for a while, speculated that it might be do-it-yourself-at-home kind of thing. Maybe you use your cellphone and it’s somehow demonically empowered to put that mark on your body. That’s impossible because technology will de dead by this point.
But the theory I lean toward the most now is that the whole thing is demonically managed. Demons will put that mark on you.
It’s like this. You put together an idol, some kind of image of the beast. That idol comes to life. You tell the idol what kind of mark you want, whether you want a generic mark or the name of the antichrist or 666, and whether you want that mark on your right hand or your forehead and – poof! – the demons will instantly put that mark on you.
That to me is the only way, within a few months, Satan will be able to implement the Mark globally and everyone who wants it will easily get it.
And what this means is that technology today will have nothing to do with how the Mark of the Beast will function or how it will be implemented. We have to keep in mind that by the time we get to the midway point of the Tribulation, the world will have gone through 13 judgments from God, which means that by this point, all technology will be dead. You remember those 200 million fiery horses? A lot of cities will be burned to the ground. A lot of power grids will be gone. Everything that happens now is done spiritually, miraculously, by the demonic realm. Technology will play no part in the Mark of the Beast during the Tribulation.
I used to say, “How will the entire world see the dead bodies of the Two Witnesses over the course of 3 days?” And then I’d hold my cellphone up. I don’t believe that anymore. Most technology will be dead by that point. I think Satan will somehow, supernaturally, project their images into the sky, just as he had presented in the sky all the kingdoms of the world to the Lord when he tempted Him on top of that high mountain. I also think the antichrist will be communicating to the world that way, too. By the time we get to the midway point, everything that happens will be spiritual, not technological, because technology will be dead. When it comes to the Mark, at best, we can say people will already be familiar with the concept of the mark, because of today’s ideas like digital IDs or central bank digital currencies, but that’s it. But you don’t even need to be familiar with any of those ideas because the concept of the Mark is simple. Get the Mark and you can buy or sell in his new global system.
So here’s the million dollar question.
What if a believer takes the mark?
Does that mean he will lose his salvation?
I’m very strongly convicted that the answer to that question is that believers won’t be permitted to get the mark even if they tried. Satan will refuse to do it, and God won’t allow it to happen.
Why?
Because believers have already been marked by God.
In the article on the freaky locusts with stingers, which is the fifth trumpet judgment in Rev. 9, we learned in Rev 9:4 that the locusts were commanded… that they can only hurt… those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.
Well, we know the 144,000 have the seal of God on their foreheads (Rev. 73), which is the name of the Father (Rev. 14:1). We’re not told that Moses and Elijah have that same seal on their foreheads, but you know they won’t be harmed by those freaky locusts.
What about believers? Are they marked by God? I couldn’t help but notice that in the letter to Philadelphia, in Rev. 3:12, the Lord promised all overcomers that He will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. The promises at the end of all the letters to the seven churches were promises extended to all the overcomers in the Tribulation. How do you become an overcomer? You get saved by coming to God with faith in Christ for who He is (1 John 5:4-5). Every new believer will have not just the name of the Father on their foreheads, but they’ll also have the name of New Jerusalem and the Lord’s new name on them. Rev. 22:4 talks about all those who enter His kingdom will have the name of God in their foreheads. It is also mentioned in prophecy that believers will be marked on their foreheads. We find in Eze 9:4 And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.
That is foreshadowing what will take place during the Tribulation. I think that every single person who gets saved in the Tribulation will be instantly marked by God. Plus, let’s not forget what the Lord also said in His letter to Philadelphia. He said in Rev 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Do you remember what the hour of temptation is? That is the period when people will be tempted to get the Mark of the Beast, and the Lord just told these saints He will keep them from the hour of temptation. How?
They’ll have the mark of God on their foreheads, the seal of God in the name of the Father, which means they won’t be able to get the mark even if they tried.
On the other hand, being marked by God will make you a target for death. Once the antichrist sets up his global kingdom, it will be his standing policy to kill all believers.
Conclusion
I’ll close with this. In terms of application, my mind goes back to the second angel telling the world, Babylon is fallen, is fallen… The people of the world are told by God that they need to think beyond living in the here and now under the antichrist’s system. They need to start thinking about life after Babylon has fallen, life inside God’s kingdom, life that is eternal in the presence of God. The same is true for us. Are you worried about what’s happening in the world today? We certainly need to do what we can to get by in the nasty now and now, but we also have to keep our minds focused upon eternity, being conformed to the image of His Son, and serving Christ, because all of this is temporary. Living for God and serving Him is all that matters now because eternity is forever.
