Rom.16:19] For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.
[20] And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
At first glance, when you see the words “peace,” and ‘bruise under your feet,’ this might seem confusing to some. But therein we see the wisdom and power of God in His Word. The Apostle Paul mentioned those faithful Brethren in chapter 16, and their selfless love and labor in the Ministry for Christ’s sake, and then he mentions the evil men deceiving the Saints with contrary doctrine. And he says that they ought to be “wisdom unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil” of this world, and by being “wise” unto the “good” of God, the God of Peace shall bruise Satan under” our feet shortly. Being wise unto that which is good means that the Saints will understand and appreciate the selfless love of God, and he will understand and appreciate the Word of God with a Spiritual mind. That is the “good” of our Father’s will for us, and it is to our “good” when we allow His Word to work effectually within us in all wisdom and godliness.
Rom.16:17] Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
[18] For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
Moreover, the carnal mind cannot please God, but the Saints operating upon the Spiritual mind can please Him, they have become “subject” to the Word and Will of God, they now can operate upon ‘His Life and His Peace.’ And by operating upon the Spiritual mind, we are allowing the doctrine of the God of Peace to work effectually within our inward man to give us the godly peace to allow us to be “longsuffering,” and give us the “comfort” of God when we suffer for His sake. And this works to produce “rejoicing,” and “glory” in our sufferings, and this is when Satan’s “wiles,” and “devices” are have no effect upon us, but it has an effect upon Satan. This is when the words like “warreth,” and “wrestle” begin to ‘come to life’ in the “life” of the son. This is when our Father is well pleased by the son who desires to be a “good soldier” unto the Father, and this is also when the doctrine of the God of Peace will bruise Satan under the feet of the faithful “soldiers” who are now ‘adorning’ the Power of the “Armour of God,” which is no match for Satan, nor the “fiery darts of the wicked” men that work to deceive others.
Rom.8:6] For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
[7] Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
[8] So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
And so, our being “wise unto that which is good” gives us the “victory” over Satan and his workers of his will. And ‘through us,’ our Father ‘bruises Satan,’ this is what we must fully understand and appreciate. We as His “good” soldiers, put the power of God on display to Satan as sons who are being conformed to the image of His Son. Satan’s wiles, and devices will not work against us, and for those who truly walk by, and are led by His word, they do something that Satan rarely sees, godly soldiers who are not affected by the course of this world. But not just that, but godly soldiers who are ‘bruising him’ with their “feet” as His “instruments of righteousness” as we wrestle against him. We will be victorious through the Power of the God of Peace, and so will our Father and the Lord Jesus’s Power and life be shown in its ”exceeding greatness,” but we must first comprehend what this all means unto the Father, meaning; being “wise unto that which is good,” and then we too would desire to bring forth fruit unto holiness unto Him and be utilized by Him as His “instruments” to bruise Satan under our feet shortly.
2Tim.2:3] Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
[4] No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
