Rom.12:1] I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
[2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
In this study, and the two following studies, we will look at what is “that good,” and “acceptable” and “perfect” will of God. Paul places emphasis upon each of the three aspects to the “will of God” itself. And we ought to know the “what” of God’s will, and that it is “good,” and that it is “perfect,” but we ourselves are taught that we are to bring forth as a “living sacrifice” things that are “holy,” and “acceptable” unto God. And when we see in verse two, Paul says that it is the Saint who has become a living sacrifice, he is to prove by his service what is the good in God’s sight according to His will, what is acceptable unto Him in His sight, and what is perfect in His sight. And we as His “perfect” sons ought to know by now “how to” present our body unto him in our “reasonable service” in His sight. But one of the biggest obstacles in our way as sons is conformity unto this world, but this is driven by the carnal mind and our flesh. But This is why we ought to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, this is the only way to prove what is the good in our Father’s sight.
Rom.12:9] Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good
Rom.12:21] Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
And so, in this study we will look at what God views as is good, and by that, we must know what is good unto Him. In the verses above in Romans chapter 12, Paul says that we ought to abhor That which is evil and cleave to that which is good. And Paul knows that when we get to Romans chapter 12, the only way to prove the good will of God, is that we have to know what is “good” in his sight to “cleave” unto. And throughout Paul’s epistles, and even from the beginning in the book of Genesis, when God said, “it is good,” the Saint ought to know what God views as “the good” in His sight. There is also a good unto us given by our Father, we see in Romans chapter 15, and that godly edification unto a perfect man is good for the son who desires to be edified by His word, and to be “perfect” also by the renewing of his mind. And it is to our good that we have His word in our sufferings as Romans 8 verse 28 says that all things work together for good to them that love Him, to them who are the called “according to His purpose,” and all things will “work together” for our good when we suffer, because we are able to use his effectual word when we are experiencing the sufferings of this present time, and even the sufferings of Christ.
Rom.15:1] We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
[2] Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.
Rom.8:28] And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Moreover, the Father’s “good” is “revealed to us by His Spirit,” meaning He has provided for us in His Word how we are to ‘think’ with a “Spiritual mind,” and how we ought to “walk,” and how we bring forth fruit unto holiness unto Him in all things, this is having the mind of Christ. These things are of “The doctrine which is according to godliness,” and designed to edify the members of His Body unto a “perfect man,” this is His plan and purpose for His Body, and it wad His intended plan for Adam in the beginning when He created man and all of creation when He said that it was “good.” And our Father’s “good” will work together for our “good” in our times of sufferings. And this is made possible by His effectual working Word strengthening us, and by the son’s understanding of the will of God, he knows that God has “prepared” for us the doctrine of comfort, the doctrine of Peace, the doctrine of godliness, and the doctrine of love for those who “love Him” with His selfless love. And the Spiritual minded son knows what is the “mind of Christ,” and he also knows what is the good of God to “cleave” unto, and by knowing that, he will also know “what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” for Christ’s sake, and for his good unto “godly edifying.”
1stCor.2:9] But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
[10] But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
[11] For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
[12] Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
