2nd Tim.3:15] And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
[16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
[17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Oftentimes, we who are in Christ do not fully understand and appreciate the Glory of the Word of God, and what His Word unto us actually means unto God. Those who are in Christ oftentimes view the Bible as ‘a book’ they only take out once or twice a week to open it up and read it. Or in other cases as historical, or good lessons to be learned about how to live the ‘goodly’ life. But God places an importance upon His Word in so much he says in psalms 138:
Ps.138:2] I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
And man himself ‘magnifies’ his loves, and word above God’s Word, and His will, and what God loves. Man cannot fathom that a man can be ‘perfect’ by ‘his standards,’ and by what he calls ‘good,’ and by what he calls ‘wisdom and knowledge.’
Col.1:28] Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
God Himself has magnified His word above His name, and we ought to view His word the way He views His holy word unto us, and we must remember that His word is designed for the man as “the temple” to dwell within. And as Adam was God’s designed help meet unto Him, we too ought to know how his word is designed to work within us as “workers together” with God as being the temple of God. And oftentimes, we do not fully understand and appreciate that God’s word is profitable for us, and is designed “that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” And God’s word is designed to bring forth fruit within those that understand that it is by the Spiritual mind and his selfless heart that this is done within the man who is to be perfected by his word. And by the spiritual mind, the Saint is “led by” the living word of the living God alone, he is able to know the will of God, and understand what is “the mind of Christ.” And it is also by the selfless heart of God that we too are supposed to know the fullness of God and to “comprehend with all the Saints what is the breadth, and the length, and the depth” of the riches of His love to us-ward who believe.
2nd Cor.13:9] For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.
[10] Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.
[11] Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
Moreover, our Father’s word is not written down to be viewed as just some book so that men can live the ‘good life’ here upon the earth unto himself, or as if the words of our Father teaches us about historical events, and bible details. But for the most part, this is how man views God’s word of truth. And we must understand that it is God’s desire that we magnify His word in our lives as well, but first things first, we must not place our own things, and thinking, and lifestyle above His word. And by doing this, we are magnifying our will, our word, and our lifestyle above His word and His name whether we know this is the case or not. And what we are to see, is that God’s word is designed to be for us, which is it is designed for our perfection as “the man of God,” and it is for our perfecting, so that we can be “holy and godly in this present evil world.” And in second Timothy chapter 3, we see in the three verses, the importance that God places upon His holy word, Paul says that the scriptures are designed to not only give the lost Sinner salvation from the debt and penalty of sin against him, but also salvation from this world, and our conformity unto it, and Satan’s plan against us. But not just that, we are to understand and appreciate just how profitable God’s word is to us, because God himself knows that His word will profit us as His sons and daughters in Christ.
Eph.4:12] For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
[13] Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
[14] That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Furthermore, his word is designed to perfect the Saint, and it is done by the three ways that God has designed the man of God be edified, and be ‘perfected.’ As we see Paul say in second Timothy chapter 3, it is for doctrine, then reproof, then correction, and THEN the man of God can walk in the “instruction of righteousness.” The man of God could now be instructed in righteousness, this is the doctrine which is according to godliness. And it is by “all scripture” that the man is perfected, and as we see in the verses above, it is by God’s designed will to give the Saints His fully completed Word, “for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” And notice in verse 14 what will happen if the Saints are not a “perfect man,” they will be “children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine,” because they have “not learned” the doctrine which is according to godliness ad we see Paul says that our Lord Jesus Christ ‘teaches us’ in the verses below.
Eph.4:20] But ye have not so learned Christ;
[21] If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
Finally, it was Paul’s desire that the Saints “be perfect,” and “be strong,” and this is because the adversary himself is no match for the “son” who walks after the Likeness of his Father, and in the image of our Lord by the doctrine which is according to godliness. The “power of the air” is designed by Satan to toss the Saints to and fro, and that they BE NOT “rooted and grounded in love,” and also NOT “rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.” But our Father has provided for us His effectual working Word for reproof and correction, and instruction in righteousness for our perfection, and by that, we are able to walk with the Spiritual mind, and the selfless heart. And as we can see, it is the Saint who has been perfected by the word of God, and the man of God that is able to be strengthened by His word, and also strengthen others by its effectual working. But not only this, the adversary himself and his “wiles” will have no effect upon the man of God who is perfect thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Col.3:14] And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
Col.4:12] Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
1st Thess.3:10] Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
[11] Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.
[12] And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
