2Ti 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2Ti 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
2Ti 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
2Ti 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Today, we are living in a time where mankind has become lovers of their own selves. Mankind has become more accustomed to making “provision for his flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof.” The ungodliness of this world has evolved to cater to the five senses of the man, these “lusts of the flesh” is what Satan tempted Adam and Eve within the garden. It was the lusts of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life that Adam and Eve succumbed unto. And today, we are being given” all that is of the world” to entice and ‘stir up’ the lusts of our flesh unto the fulfilling of our heart’s desires, and falling away unto more ungodliness, but continuing to try to ‘fit God in,’ and ‘update’ what we now call Christianity and godliness. We are living in a time whereby the “Light” has been changed unto darkness and the darkness has been changed into light. And just as Satan is transformed into an Angel of light, so has his ministers “transformed” their deceiving doctrines to be accepted as truth. The “doctrines of devils” work to ‘keep up with the times’ so to speak, they ‘meet men where their heart is,’ and conform to this world’s standards of what is the ‘good, and acceptable word of men.’ The men and women of this world are being enticed by the things that they see, and the things that they hear, and the things that they love, this is how they are “taken captive” by Satan “at his will.” And as this world continues to grow in technologies and enticing things to cater to the five senses of man. And the men of this world also continues to search for ways that man will learn to “cleave” unto, and fall in love with this world all the more. But the word of God in truth, and the doctrine which is according to godliness is being kept hid by them who have allowed their minds to be blinded from the glorious light of the gospel of God, lest it should shine upon them.
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
2Ti 3:8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
2Ti 3:9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
Moreover, it is by those “divers lusts” that man’s flesh and heart becomes ‘captivated,’ and it is the man himself that ends up being his own worst enemy in continuing to be conformed to this world. And our lusts of our flesh keeps our eyes focused upon the things we love, we become lovers of our own selves. This is how we are transformed to be lovers of our own selves; it is by the things we love or as the verses say we become lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. And many Saints would say that they are not lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God, but when they are given unto the lusts, it is their objective to fulfill the lust thereof as Romans 13 verse 14 says. But the remedy for not fulfilling those lusts is to put on the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This means put on the doctrine, which is according to godliness, this means put on the new man, this means put on the whole armor, all these refer to putting on, and adorning the doctrine which is according to godliness and walking in the life of Christ as sons. And many people walk in the perilous times to day, And they are lovers of their own selves, this is because they are not a living sacrifice, and they have not been transformed by the renewing of their mind, and they have the and lusts that they desire to fulfill, instead of reckoning themselves to be dead indeed unto sin but alive unto God.
Rom 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
Rom 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
Rom 13:13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
Rom 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
And today, the pastors and teachers are more inclined to cater to the lusts of the people rather than take heed unto and teach sound doctrine which is according to godliness. They are more concerned with trying to reach the people with the wisdom of this world, and with what their heart desires, and try to fit God into what the people want to hear. This has become the norm today, because if the people love themselves “more” than they love God, then the preachers of this world feel that they should have to meet the people ‘where they are at.’ They do not want to ‘lose’ the people, so they speak to their level, as they begin to ‘add’ God on top of the table of contents of their heart’s desires. They feel that the men of this world will now be more receptive to hear what they have to say, so they continue to teach unto the Christian what the preacher values as ‘what is good,’ and ‘what is the evil,’ and what is the perfect will of God, instead of teaching what God’s word says alone. And teaching that there is nothing wrong with just some of the things of this world that we cleave onto, instead of understanding that all that is in the world is of the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and of the pride of life and that it is not of the father but it is of this ungodly world that we are taught to abhor, but cleave unto the good of our father’s spiritual things in his word, and we are to mind spiritual things not earthly things, we are to look at what we see not, this is the will of God, even our sanctification unto godliness.
1Jn 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1Jn 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
