“Be Not Overcome Of Evil But Overcome Evil With Good”

Rom.12:21] Be not overcome of evil, but overcome Bevil with good.

Rom.12:9] Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good

One of the definitions for the word “overcome” is: To conquer; to vanquish; to subdue;
as, to overcome enemies in battle. And this definition goes after the same
meaning in Romans chapter 12:21. The nature of evil ‘itself’ has a power to ‘conquer;
to vanquish; to subdue; as, to overcome enemies’ who are of the ‘good.’ And
since the beginning, man has taken an interest in “good and evil,” but there are
two different aspects, or viewpoints on what is good and what is evil. The
desire of Adam and Eve was to ‘know good and evil,’ but their ‘new-found’
understanding of what was good and what was evil, was not what “good” meant in
the sight of God, or what “evil” meant in the sight of God also. And today, the
man does not think that he himself has become overcome by the evil of this
world. He walks according to the power of the air, and his way of life goes after
a ‘self love’ motivation of living, and not as a living sacrifice in godliness.
And the man has transformed the works of darkness of this world as the ‘goodly light’
to walk by. And today, ‘self love,’ and ‘loving yourself first’ is taught by today’s
therapist, and by many Churches in religion today.

Rom.16:19] For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf:
but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning
evil.

[20] And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord
Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Furthermore, the things that are the “good” in God’s sight are the Spiritual things concerning
His Word and His will. And the good things in God’s sight are the things are
not seen, and are given for our inward man only. And the “evil” in the sight of
God are the things that are of this world, and the things that concern ‘the
lusts of the flesh, the lusts of the eyes, and the pride of life.’ And the Word
of God teaches those who desire to walk in the Doctrine which is according to
godliness to “abhor that which is evil” in His sight. And the doctrine in
Romans chapter 12 teaches the abounding selfless love of God unto those who
desire to be a living sacrifice. And those who desire to be transformed by the
renewing of their minds are first taught about selfless love toward God as we
“prove what is that good and acceptable word of God.” Then we are taught
selfless love toward the members of His Body, but not only they, but we are
also taught His selfless love toward our neighbors as Saints. But the man today
has become attracted to, and affected by operating upon ‘his good’ which goes after
the worldly things which pleases the flesh, and these things are “good” in his sight.
But this is not what Paul had in mind when he taught that we are to cleave unto
that which is good. We are taught to abhor that which is evil in the sight of
God, which is the carnal, earthly things of this world, and cleave to that
which is good in His sight, which is the Spiritual things with selflessness things.

Rom.12:1] I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your
bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable
service.

[2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Moreover today, man’s use for the word ‘overcome’ most oftentimes takes on the meaning of a
‘temporary victory’ over something, and not in the way in which we see it used
in Romans chapter 12. We are taught to “abhor” that which is evil, and to not walk
in evil by ‘recompensing’ evil for evil. And this is because if the Saint ‘recompenses
evil for evil,’ he now will walk according to the power of the air. But most importantly,
he will walk according to the Satanic design of the adversary. And will walk after
the identity of the person who gave him the evil, and not walk after the Spirit
which is according to godliness and the “good.” And this is because when we are
given evil by this world, and we respond back unto it with it’s evil, we now walking
in their likeness and are actually being “overcome” by an Adversary who desires
that we be ‘like’ him. But we are taught that evil itself could “overcome” us, if
we allow it; if we walked in it’s power, but we are equipped with the power of
the Most High God, and the Life of His Son given unto us by His Word to “overcome”
evil.

Rom.12:14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

Eph.4:31] Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put
away from you, with all malice:

[32] And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for
Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Finally, to overcome evil we are taught His selfless love toward us, and in Romans chapter
12 we are beseeched by His “mercies” to be a living sacrifice and walk in this selfless
ensample as His “sons.” And a son would walk in his Father’s Word and likeness,
not after the likeness of man. And our overcoming evil goes after the Spiritual
warfare of the power of God vs the power of Satan. We are taught that when evil
arises in our lives, we are to “abhor” even the thought of operating upon it, and
continue to “cleave to that which is good” in the sight of our Father. And we are
given evil by this world, we provide things which honest in the sight of God,
and in the sight of men, this selfless walk is how God designed that we “overcome”
the evil of this world by walking in His selflessness, and not by ‘being the bigger
person,’ and forgiving someone, but by love having the godly desire to walk in our
Lord’s selflessness and overcome Satan’s evil by dispensing godly love, and not
walking by Satan’s works of darkness and by the way of the men of this world. But
be as Ephesians 5:1-2 says: “followers of God, as dear children;

[2] And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering
and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.”

Rom.12:17] Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all
men.

[18] If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

[19] Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is
written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

[20] Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing
thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

[21] Be notovercome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
