Galatians 3:15-18

Galatians 3:15-18

Galatians

1-2: Personal Pauls apostleship and ministry 1-2 Defending his apostleship and ministry

Doctrinal 3-4: explaining his apostleship and ministry

Practical 5-6: applying his apostleship and ministry

Because of their false teaching in Galatians, Paul, written through the Holy Spirit, doesn’t call them beloved or saints.

Romans 1:7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the LORD Jesus Christ.

To all that be in Rome, B of God, C to be S

1 Corinthians 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our LORD, both theirs and ours:

To them that are S in C Jesus C to be S

2 Corinthians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia

Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the S

Ephesians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

To the S which are at Ephesus, and to the F in C Jesus

Galatians 1:1-2 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;) 2 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:

Because of their false teaching something is missing. There is nothing about being the Church of God or Saints.

When the nation of Israel went away from God, then the Lord called them Moses’s people.

Exodus 32:7 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:

Get thee down for T p, which T b out of the land of Egypt

The same thing happened in Daniel’s time.

Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Tp and upon T holy C .

At that point God didn’t Claim them but he will.

Jeremiah 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

And W be their G and they shall be M p .

Galatians 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

I marvel that ye are so soon R from H = Paul’s message which is God himself

Galatians 1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

Which is N another; but there be some that trouble you and would P

the gospel of C .

Galatians 3:15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

I speak after the manner of men = Paul is putting it in words we can understand.

Romans 6:19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

1 Corinthians 15:32 If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die.

If there is no resurrection from the dead we should live it up.

Galatians 3:15 covenant = contract or an agreement

Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

The Abraham covenant is the first covenant and It had 3 Parts

Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Now to Abraham and his seed were the p . thats more than 1.

1 Eternal life

2 The promised Land

3 Abraham’s multiplied seed would be a blessing to all the world.

Abraham is going to compare a mans agreement with God’s.

Galatians 3:15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

Though it be but a man’s covenant no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

How did God confirm the covenant??

Hebrews 6:13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,

For when God made promise to Abraham, Because he could S by no greater, he S by H .

God took an oath. Why???

Hebrews 6:14-16 An oath for confirmation

Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. 15And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. 16For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.

Hebrews 6:17 to shew unto the H of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an O .

God was willing = he wanted to show you.

Galatians 3:15 Even among men a covenant can’t be changed.

Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

God can’t change this Covenant or agreement that salvation is by faith alone.

Galatians 3:16-17 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. 17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

The Covenant confirmed before of God in C .

Luke 1:67-74 Talking about Jesus

And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, 68Blessed be the LORD God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, 69And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David; 70As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began: 71That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; 72To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; 73The oath which he sware to our father Abraham, 74That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,

The birth of Jesus confirms the covenant to Abraham.

Galatians 3:17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

The law which was four hundred and thirty years after, Cannot D that it should make the P of none E

Galatians 3:18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

The inheritance was by promise. You would have to get rid of the Covenant for God to add conditions. God is not a Covenant breaker!

Romans 1:31-32 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
