Eph.5:[15] See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
[16] Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
[17] Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
[18] And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
The most momentous and celebrated time in a parents life is when their child takes their first steps, and begin to walk. And we as parents, desire to capture this moment in time, and we value and esteem when our child takes his first steps and begin to walk as he grows. Our Father desires that we not only begin to walk in His Holy word, but that we too grow, and be “no more children, tossed to and fro, carried about with every wind of doctrine,” and that we would continue to ‘grow up in Him and all things,’ and not remain babes in Christ but that we would walk circumspectly and not as fool’s. This is our Fathers desire that our walk would be in the ‘steps of godliness,’ and operating upon the mind of Christ and putting on the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, just as our children desire to take their first steps because they see our pattern as we walk, and not crawl, and are carried about.
1st Cor.3:1] And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
[2] I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
[3] For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
Furthermore, our Father does not want us to assume that He will ‘carry us about’ either, He has given us His Word to “walk in,” and be “led by,’ and not that He Himself would ‘lead us by the hand’ as sons and daughters in Him. Many saints are “not able to bear” His Word, and not because our Father has not provided for us the proper designed method for our walk, and growth, but it is the “carnal” mind, and the hardened heart of the saints who desire not to follow God’s design to educate us from ‘milk to meat.’ We too as parents would not give our children a bicycle before we give them a walker at one year old. Our walk as “Sons and daughters” is essential to bringing forth godly honor and glory unto Him, as we are members of His Body, and to be conformed to the image of His Son.
Rom.6:[4] Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
[5] For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Moreover, and just as children desire to walk because they see their parents walk, we too ought to desire to walk as we are taught, and that is to walk in His “likeness,” and “newness of life.” And just as the child does not pick his own method for ‘going to and fro,’ he follows the parents designed way to go about his way. The child doesn’t get upset at three years old that he cannot drive the car, he knows this is not the designed method for him ‘at this time,’ but from the time he is in his car seat, to riding bicycle, he desires the “appointed time” when he too will grow up and drive a car of his own. Unfortunately, Christians assume that God has left us to ‘figure out’ our own plan for our growth and godly edifying, God has given us His Word in a ‘milk to meat’ progressive designed way for our godly edifying.
Rom.8:4] That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
[5] For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
2Cor.6:16] And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
[17] Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
Therefore, our Father wants to ‘walk in us;’ meaning that He desires that His Holy Word would walk in us if we allow it. His Word is how we are sanctified, and it is with our “enlarged” heart that we serve and walk in Him. And it is by a renewed Spiritual mind, and an enlarged heart which is after His heart, and mind that we are to “walk” after His will. And as we have seen God as our Father “ordained that we should walk in” good works according to His will, and it is by our “walk in” the Living Word of God, and as we are educated by His word, our walk will produce the designed “fruit” unto His honor and glory.
Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Therefore, we “are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works,” we are to be a ‘product of’ Him who has “foreknown,” “predestinated,” that we put on display His glory. Similar to if today’s ‘workman’ creates, and designs a piece of furniture for sale, he puts his name, his reputation, and livelihood on the line. And as the designer, his desire is that his ‘work’ be admired, and set apart from, and above all other ‘works’ created. And we being His workmanship, are to put on display the ‘Workman’ who we were created in His image, after His likeness. And this means to walk as He would have His “sons and daughters” to walk as we represent our Father, and are a ‘product of’ Him, and put on display that He has provided for us a way that we live unto Him. Just as a parent teaches the child who will now ‘live on his own,’ and leave his parent’s house because he has come of age, our Father has given us the ‘talk’ as well, and it is found in His word, but we have to open, and read His Word, and “walk in” the Word of truth, regardless what we see, and hear of this world.
Eph 4:17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
Eph 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
Eph 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
Finally, another proud moment in the life of a parent, is when the child says his first words, and not as the sounds that the child has made before, but that the child would say things in the likeness of his parents. And no longer will the child use ‘baby talk,’ but he would grow into the designed speech of his parents, and in their language. And once we “learn” to “walk in Him,” and in His Word, our words will be in godliness, or in ‘God-like-ness;’ and our Father is also well pleased, and He will “rejoice” when we walk in Him, and “speak the right things” just as He teaches us in His Word. And we too have been given by our Father the doctrine about the dangers of this world, and how to respond in godliness, and how to live in this world, as we think like Him, live in this world like Him, and labor together with Him in this world, all we have to do is trust the education give to us, and “walk in” His provision for us.
Pro 23:15 My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.
Pro 23:16 Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.
