Holding Fast The Faithful Word

Prov.23:15] My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.
[16] Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.

Rom 8:14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Rom 8:15  For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father

In the prior study, we saw how well pleasing it is to our Father when we begin to “walk” in His Word, and when we “walk circumspectly, and not as fools.” We likened our growth and development, and our Father’s desire that we be His faithful sons in His word, as the earnest expectation a proud parent seeing, and recording his child taking his very first step. But another one of the greatest moments of a parent would be when the child says his first word. And each parent desires that the child would choose to say their name first and foremost. If the child does choose to say the name of the parent, he or she will rejoice that their name has first came out of the mouth of the child. Our Father will also when we too declare His name, and His Word, and “speak right things.”

Titus 2:1] But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

1Co 2:13  Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

Rom 8:8  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Moreover, when we who are being educated in the doctrine “which is according to godliness” speak “the things which become sound doctrine,” our Father’s heart can rejoice, and it is well pleasing unto Him when we are operating upon a Spiritual mind, and speaking with “one mind and one mouth glorify God.” And when our hearts are “wise” according to His Word unto us, our words will be after His Holy words in all godliness. And just as the parent desires that the child grow in development from one word, to one sentence, to the point where he will learn what we have taught him, and then he too will teach our ‘good,’ and our wisdom out of his own mouth.

Titus 1:9] Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

1Th 2:13  For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

2Th 2:15  Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

2Th 2:16  Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,

However, what would be disappointing to the parent is if the child would learn his words from the neighbor, or from someone who the parent does not approve of. This would be ‘the worst case scenario,’ and contrary to what the parent had in mind in the beginning for his child. Our Father too has a ‘brighter future’ for His “sons and daughters,” and that we be an extension of His Holiness, and when we who are justified continue to be “conformed to this world,” and desire not to “cry Abba Father” and be educated by Him, this is the ‘worst case scenario’ for our Sanctified lives. We might overlook the essential nature of God’s word of Truth, oftentimes it is viewed as a ‘book of Devotion,’ or as His word, but assuming that it is too hard to understand, and assuming that His Love, and His provision for us in His Word is only ‘one dimensional,’ (that the only thing that He did for us was sending His Son to die for us).

1Th 1:5  For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

1Th 1:6  And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:

1Th 1:7  So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.

1Th 1:8  For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.

2Tim.1:13] Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Therefore, how would we feel as parents if our children did not trust our word, and if they thought that our love, and provision for them was a ‘one time thing?’ And that we ‘gave up on them’ after the first grade, many Christians today do not fully trust to operate upon the Father’s word in their Sanctified lives, they would rather turn to the tradition of man, and his words to live by. But we are to allow God’s word to work effectually within us, and be that “living epistle” where the word of God is written on, and in our hearts. This is when we will speak the right things, this is when our words will be after His words, this is well pleasing unto Him.

Col 2:2  That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

Col 2:3  In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Col 2:4  And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.

Finally, our Father desires that we ‘grow up’ according to His curriculum for learning, He would not have us learning our future words from another, or assume that He has not provided for us everything we are going to Spiritually need for our inward man. But he desires, and provided for our words to become transformed after His words, with the intent that we bring forth the glory and honor unto the Father. And just as any proud parent could rejoice when their children has followed their guidance, and word to accomplishing the highest achievements, our Father spirit becomes affected by our wise heart, and our Spiritual mind, and the godly edifying words that we speak as we are taught by Him.

Col 2:6  As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

Col 2:7  Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Col 2:8  Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
