The Secret About Our Rewards

As a believer, God says He will reward us for the works that abide the fire. “Every
man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be
revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.” (I Cor.
3:13) The passage further teaches how: “If any man’s work abide which he hath built
thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall
suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” (I Cor. 3:14-15) It relays
the idea of living sound doctrine unto the Lord by the convictions in our hearts.

The great secret is that though God is due all the reward, yet He graciously shares
His glory with us. When we reflect on the works worthy of rewards, they are all the
work of Christ: His wisdom and power manifest in us. We are to yield to Christ and
what He teaches to function as who we are in Christ, ministering to others in our
mortal bodies (His temple). “Neither yield ye your members as instruments of
unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from
the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.” (Romans
6:13) Who deserves the praise… it is the only wise God.

As we yield to press toward the mark using sound doctrine, Christ shines in and
through us. This is the amazing inner man work that is rewarded at the Judgment
Seat of Christ: “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every
one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether
it be good or bad. (II Cor. 5:10) His Word impacts us to grow and live, affecting those
around us and even the angels, then WE are rewarded? What a merciful, loving plan.
The wondrous secret is that though it is all His work in us, in great love and kindness,
God gave us a unique and special position and opportunity while living on earth. We
can choose to walk out our life to glorify Christ in our body and redeem the time,
which stores up eternal treasures for us to be rewarded on that glorious day.
